I, like a good number of Americans have an uneasy feeling about our personal state, the country and the world. It’s the sort of thing that is difficult to put your finger on; it’s a gut feeling that you sometime get which says something is just not right and that something pretty bad is about to happen.
A recent poll showed that an increasing number of Americans no longer believe that the American dream is achievable for them. This is an empirical data point that pretty much supports the general uneasiness that I feel and that I think exists throughout the country. The problem is that it’s one thing to have this sense of foreboding but it is something entirely different when you really want to know the cause for the general uneasiness. With all of the issues confronting the country, I think it is important for us to understand what is causing this general feeling of anxiety. Let’s examine.
